This is my story
Brave Enough Not To Quit
Millie Farrow - Author and Professional Athlete
Over the course of the last ten years I have built up a wealth of experience in my continuing career. Playing for eight different clubs since turning pro with Chelsea FC in the WSL at the age of nineteen, Bristol City (WSL 1, WSL 2), Reading FC (WSL), Leicester city (Championship), Crystal Palace (Championship), North Carolina Courage (NWSL), Perth Glory (ALW) and Sydney FC (ALW). From a young age my career and my life was disrupted by a series of serious injuries and mental health issues including two ACL reconstructions and being diagnosed with OCD and anxiety.
The injuries and the mental health issues that I have experienced while trying to make it as an established athlete have contributed massively to who I have become, they have shaped me in ways I never imagined. My understanding of my mental health problems has seriously opened my eyes and taken me down paths I never pictured myself having to go down.
I am proof of somebody that has been at the lowest of their career/life. I have proved that you can hit rock bottom in so many ways and still continue to strive for perceived “success”. Most importantly I am proof that no matter what, we still have the choice to be happy. We are what we believe we are. I am determined to use my experience to help the next generation.
I’ve come to realise that without adversity, there are no opportunities for growth but this requires an open mind and the willingness to learn. The challenges I faced ultimately led me to some of the most rewarding experiences of my life.
In 2023, I released my book Brave Enough Not to Quit. I open up to my deepest level as the pages turn. There are many people that my experiences will resonate with. It was important to share my story to ensure people that they are not alone.
Through my mentorship I want to go a step further. I aim to continue this mission—connecting with individuals who are also Brave Enough Not to Quit, helping you embrace your strength through vulnerability.
